All six of our picks list Alexa support on Amazon, and three also list Google. In practice, "works with" mostly means you can say "show the front door" and see live video on an Echo Show, Fire TV, Nest Hub or Chromecast. Saved clips, motion zones and plan features stay in the maker's own app.

"Not listed" means we did not see Google on the Amazon listing we read. It may work through the maker's app in other ways. Check the maker's site if Google matters to you.
What you get, and what you do not
- Live view on a screen. This needs a device with a display. A speaker alone cannot show video.
- Voice commands. Tapo's FAQ gives "show My Front Door Camera" as an example. The name is the one you set in the maker's app.
- No voice off switch on some brands. Tapo says its cameras do not support a "camera off" voice command, so an intruder cannot shut them off by voice.
- Plans still apply. Linking to Alexa does not add saved video. A Ring camera with no plan still has no recordings, per Ring's support page.
Which to pick
If your home runs on Alexa and you want saved video with no plan, the eufy SoloCam S220 fits. Caveat: it needs 2.4GHz WiFi and a sunny spot for the panel. If you use both Alexa and Google screens and have an outlet, the WYZE Cam v4 lists both and records nonstop to a card. Caveat: owners report WiFi drops. If you already pay for Ring or Blink, those cameras join the same Alexa setup. Caveat: saved video needs a plan or, for Blink, extra hardware.

Privacy and the law: Linking a camera to a voice assistant means another account can reach your video.
